It is natural to worry when you discover a lump or experience discomfort, but not all breast changes indicate cancer. Understanding the nature of your symptoms can offer reassurance and guide the next steps.
Common benign conditions include:
- Breast cysts
- Fibrocystic changes
- Mastitis (breast infection)
- Calcifications
- Lipoma (fatty tumour)
You may consider consulting a breast specialist if you have noticed any of the following:
- A new lump or thickened area in the breast or underarm
- Changes in the size, shape or contour of the breast
- Persistent discomfort in a specific area
- Nipple discharge, especially if blood stained
- Skin changes including dimpling, redness or puckering
- A family history of breast cancer or known BRCA related risk
What should I expect during my first visit?
Your first consultation will involve a clinical breast examination. Depending on your symptoms and history, the doctor may advise imaging such as a mammogram or ultrasound. If the results suggest the need for further clarification, a biopsy may be recommended. You will have time to raise questions and discuss the findings so you can leave the appointment with a clearer understanding of your breast health.
Do I need to make an appointment, or are walk-ins accepted?
Appointments are encouraged to ensure adequate time for a proper evaluation. You may arrange a visit by calling, emailing or sending an online request.
Do you accept insurance or Medisave?
Our clinic accepts a range of insurance plans and Medisave, depending on individual eligibility. Some insurers may also provide direct billing. If you are unsure about your coverage, our team can assist with verifying the details and guiding you through any documents that need to be completed.
